With spring now here, have you washed all the windows, cleaned behind the furniture, rinsed the curtains and hung them out to dry...? No? We didn't think so. Spring cleaning is the historical act of deep cleaning the house from top to bottom after the dark and cold winter months. Traditionally, everything in the house was cleaned, from carpets to curtains, in a bid to get rid of the dust and dirt from coal fires used constantly in the winter months.
However, due to the invention of central heating and vacuum cleaners, it's become much less necessary (phew). A recent survey by Appliances Direct found only 33% of people undertake a spring clean (and brilliantly, 44% of people would love to own a cleaning robot - which sounds good to us).
Instead, over the next few weeks we'll be focusing our attention at ways you can take steps to spring clean your life, including simple tips and changes to make your life more streamlined (and you much happier as a result).
