Did you know that 87% of UK mums have a smartphone, and 91% use social networking sites regularly? To kick-start 2014 on TalkMum, January is dedicated to all things social media.
According to recent research by Babycentre, more than half of UK mothers consider their smartphone as ‘essential’ to parenting. Three in five say that smartphones 'reduce the isolation' of being a new parent. The research found that mums are 20% more likely to use social media than the general population.
Smartphones and social media have a huge - and we think very positive - role to play in parenting modern motherhood.
So this month we’ll be looking at the best sites, social networks and apps to support your parenting journey, from when you’re TTC, to the toddler stage, and beyond. We will also be looking at how technology can help you as a parent; often in some slightly unexpected ways.
The parent blogging phenomenon also shows no sign of stopping; the Tots100 index of UK mum and dad blogs currently lists over 7,000 active sites. We’ll be profiling all our brilliant TalkMum bloggers to find out a bit more about their blogs, why they write, and uncovering lots of hints and tips for any newer bloggers out there.
